First Semester is jam packed with new Quilts and Techniques and our popular Beginners Patchwork, Dressmaking, Machine Embroidery and some fabulous Needlework. A big Welcome to our new Team Members Trish, Pauline, Sue and Lorna. Trish brings with her many years experience with Bernina Machines and Overlockers. Specializing in Machine Embroidery and Digitizing as well as her gift of producing some very quirky projects of which you have already experienced a few. Lorna is just off the boat from England and together with her great accent and sense of humour we have already nicknamed her the bag lady as she already has overflowing classes in a myriad of different shaped bags to show you. Pauline is our Patchwork Teacher who has a new and exciting format. She has even brought back the old favourite Quillo great Quilt for the favourite kids in your life they love them. Sue Landers is your mystery Quilt Queen and many other projects to follow soon. Watch this space. Denise of Hot Possum is aboard this year with her fabulous design experience and keen eye for the modern designs. So look forward to seeing new creations in the modern department. Let s not forget our tried and true regulars who we couldn t do without. Jan, Mahrie, Toni, Bernie, Annie our all-rounders with many years experience in Dressmaking and Patchwork to share with you. Toni in Dressmaking who excels in filling her classes to the brim and encouraging everyone to create amazing garments. Bernie is our Janome Machine Embroidery teacher who adds flair with his excitement and showing his great clothes designs also. Myself and Michelle, my daughter are the Quilters in the shop. She is run off her feet to provide the quickest turnaround and best quilting in Perth. Over 1000 designs to choose from and top quality threads to finish your projects off to the perfection they deserve. A new concept this year is the Pop Up class. Watch your s carefully because if an advertised class doesn t run another exciting project will be taking it s place. Here they come with the expertise of Ada from the Embroiderers Guild. During that time you can choose a great sampler where you can record the name of your stitches, a needle pouch in Casalguidy style or a Journal cover in Jacobian style. Either stranded or pearl threads can be used. A small break and Lorna will show you some silk embroidery on silk. A little later Ada will be back with a 3D embroidery using layers of threadwork and organza. Absolutely beautiful. It s on imaginative plast play with a draw string to double as a toy storage bag. With 23 interactive elements incldung flaps, pockets abd soft toys. 2. 5 Wendy Williams & Anni Downs Workshop $ classes Megan will give you techniques you ve never seen before. You ll be offered three block of the month Quilts. Around the Garden, Birdsville or Dancing Chickens and Flying Pigs. All samples will be either hand or machine sewn with a combination of fabric and felt wool. Consisting of a preprinted centre panel, using batiks fabrics it is amazing. Panel and fabrics are available for viewing. Tues 17 th January am 2.30pm Oval Wrapped Cord Bowl $55 (includes cord) Another amazing bowl class with Trish. This time you will learn how to stitch and shape an oval bowl with handles. Tuesday 24 th January am 2.30pm Free Motion Quilting $50 Would you like to learn how to do stippling and freemotion quilting? Trish will take you through the many facets of free motion quilting on your domestic machine. Easy designs to more complex designs. You will also then have a ½ hour showing on the longarm free motion quilting machines at the end of the class. Wed 25 th Jan am 2.30pm Vacation Bag $50 This is a medium bag where Lorna will show you how it s weight is supported with handles going down the sides. Pockets inside and outside. Quilt as you go and inserting a sturdy bottom and with feet. Tues 31 st Jan am 2.30pm Tunnel Vision $50 Trish will show you this simple but stunning Quilt. Made from Batik Ombre fabrics. If you don t finish you can come in the afternoon on the following Tuesday after the morning machine demonstration. Friday 17 th February am 2.30pm Autumn Star L $50 Lorna s beautiful Quilt is constructed from 1 jelly roll of your choice and background fabric. Make as many or as few as you d like. 6 Paper Piece Sew Machine $50 How colourful is this project. If you haven t done paper piecing before this is a great introduction.
