2 Pressinfo August 27th, 2014 BURLESQUE... Across Europe everyone is talking about it! And it s growing quickly! In Berlin, Burlesque is gaining popularity, and bringing in a big, colourful, diverse audiences. In all it's facets, from classic, glamorous Burlesque á la Dita von Teese with glittery, Swarovski decorated costumes and feather-fans, to grotesque parodies and avant garde performance art, Burlesque plays with a high level of seduction and sensuality, as well as with the natural beauty of the body (female or male). And always with a coquettish wink! The second BERLIN BURLESQUE FESTIVAL... In the big cultural metropolises - London, Paris, Rome, New York, Tokyo, Sydney annual Burlesque Festivals have been taking place for several years, and it is finally time for Berlin! Performers and guests from all over the world will come together to create a multifaceted community. From young to old, male, female, from millionaires to students, the passion for classy eroticism and excitement for the unexpected connect them all. The crème de la crème of Burlesque is coming to Berlin, and our audience will dive into the world of glamour, glitter and beauty for a weekend. With enormeous success, three sold out nights and a great press coverage we established the Berlin Burlesque Festival last year in September. Seite 2

3 From the beginning we decided: THINK BIG! So what better place could we find than the famous Berlin Wintergarten? In October 2014 the festival opens it's doors for the second time... The PERFORMERS... We accepted applications from International Burlesque and Performance Artists until the end of April. We received about 180 applications from all over the world. Applicants ranged from the international Burlesque elite to high aiming newcomers! At the end of May, the final choices were made and we announced the performers in the beginning of June. On Thursday the BBF starts with the red carpet and newcomer shows in the beautiful historical ballroom of the HEIMATHAFEN Neukölln. The performers are introduced below. The press is invited for a meet and greet with the performers and the newcomers who will have their exciting festival debut. Friday and Saturday are the extravagant and glamours showcases at the WINTERGARTEN. Apart from classic burlesque shows we will also present acrobats, live music and firedancers. 6 burlesque scene: REUBEN KAYE (UK) - EVE CHAMPAGNE (GER) - Champagne/ FERKEL JOHNSON (GER) - On both days everyone is invited to a wild after show party with vintage sounds, electro swing and more with the well known Bohème Sauvage DJ DR. HIRSCHFELD and the notorious SHREDDER of the band EAT LIPSTICK. The MARKET PLACE... At each event there will be booths with vendors presenting burlesque fashion, accessories, beauty salons, cupcakes, books, merchandise and more! Additionally, there will be several burlesque and costume workshops. The LOCATIONS... The 'Neuköllner Saalbau', a ballroom from 1879, went through a great revitalization in the past years and is now, operating under the name HEIMATHAFEN, an important institution of Berlins culture and theatre community. With it's professional theatre stage, heavy red curtains and high ballroom ceiling it is a perfect location to start the festival. The WINTERGARTEN in Berlin s Tiergarten District, close to Potsdamer Platz is popular for it's running varieté shows. MARLENE VON STEENVAG is internationally recogized as 'Germany's Queen of Burlesque'. Nobody in the showbiz the days embodies the glamourous, the mysterious, but also the infamous as well as she does. She has lived in Berlin since 2009 and has several years of experience as a performer. She has developed a close international network and has brought many artists to Germany, helping to making this a vibrant and colourful community. Touring throughout Europe, to it s most established festivals and clubs, she is at home on the stages of London, Paris, Rome, Milan, Zürich, Amsterdam, Brussels and many more. Marlene conquered the world of Burlesque with true charm and charisma. She is co- founder of the BERLIN BURLESQUE ACADEMY. She has performed or modelled for clients as Aston Martin, Google, Lanson Champagner, Amorelie, BMW, L'Oreal, St. Germain, Berliner Pilsener and in the movie "Die Banklady". The current cover- g irl of the Teaser Magazine increasingly appears in TV productions such as ZDF Aspekte: "Die Lust an der emanzipierten Nacktheit" She also shows a great appearance in the press. Recently she was the opener for the Berlin Fashion Week: Bild-Zeitung: " So nackt startete die Fashion Week noch nie!" / Cosmopolitan: "Heiße Burlesque- Party auf der Fashion Week.". 8 is most well known for being the inventor and organizer of the infamous BOHÈME SAUVAGE, Germany's most successful and extremely popular 1920s themed concept event since Bohème Sauvage regularly takes place in Berlin, Hamburg, Cologne, Wiesbaden, Vienna and Zürich. Along with Lady Lou and Miss Julietta la Doll she is also one of the founders of LA FÊTE FATALE, the craziest and most inspirative Berlin burlesque event. With her agency EVENTAGANZA she ia partner of many Berlin based event agencies since 2004, when it is about extraordinary theme and concept events.
