Including a pottery pinch bowl having a black and red painted geometric and banded decoration on a cream ground, on both the exterior and interior. Repaired from approximately six large original pieces with restoration over the breaklines, and a 1/2 round surface flake. Together with a boat shape pottery bowl decorated with a stylized human face on the front having relief features. Painted red and black geometric decoration on a cream ground. Three miniature figures mounted together on a custom lucite display base, including: a carved stone Mezcala standing figure; a tiny carved white stone Mezcala figural pendant and a pre-classic pottery figural amulet. Scattered mineral deposits on the surface. The left foot of the smaller example is a replacement, otherwise both are intact. Solid pottery seated pendant figures including three matching figures, with traces of red and white pigment highlights. Single perforation through the top of head. All intact. Two different tripod bowls, including one having four small lug handles around the rim, painted red linear decoration. Tiny probe hole in base, otherwise intact. Together with a tripod bowl having a flat shoulder and wide mouth. Fine line painted red crosshatched and linear decoration. Intact. And a bulbous-bodied vessel having a basket type handle. A bowl having a wide center band, with stylized birds, triangular and stepped elements, painted white on a red-brown ground. Chain link upper and lower borders. Two very minor paint flakes, otherwise intact. A tripod bowl, possibly depicting a stylized frog, black painted crosshatched decoration. Intact. Finally, a squat bottle form having a painted concentric banded decoration. Two perforations in the rim for attachment. Intact. Five different miniature solid pottery seated figures, all are perforated for suspension. Three holding hands on their raised knees, one with hands on chest and one holding a bowl. One published and exhibited: Ceremonial Objects of Ancient Mexico, Memphis Pink Palace Museum, 1984, # 25a. Four polychrome pottery tripod bowls. One decorated with stylized scorpions and various geometric elements on both the interior and exterior. Intact. Exhibited Pink Palace Museum. Together with a bowl having a simple geometric decoration, intact. A tripod bowl with rattle type legs. Decorated on the underside with two deeply incised rim bands and red painted stripes on a cream ground. Intact. Finally, a tripod bowl decorated with a painted black rim band with stylized animals. A small bird painted on each leg. A small chip on the rim, otherwise intact. Nice examples. Including a natural buff-brown solid pottery Chupicuaro standing pretty lady figure depicted with large breasts, wearing a necklace and fancy head band. Painted red and white highlights. Intact, nice example. Together with two cream slip, Michoacan rotund female figures with ample breasts and wide hips. One wearing a fancy headband. The smaller example has a restored right arm. 5 604. Two Chupicuaro Ollas & Pinch Bowl (3) Chupicuaro, Mexico. Ca B.C. 4-3/8 H., 5 H. & 6-3/4 x 4-3/8. Three Chupicuaro pottery examples, including an oblong pinch bowl having a red and cream melon section type decoration. Intact. An olla having a collar rim with small tabs. Decorated with a red and cream stepped geometric design. Intact. Finally, an olla standing on tripod legs. Relief decorated with a stylized face with an incised toothy mouth. Minor surface dig on one side and a tiny rim flake, otherwise intact. Est. $1,000-$1,500 Closing: Thursday, May 19th, 2:12 P.M Small Chupicuaro Vessels (4) Chupicuaro, Mexico. Ca B.C. 2-3/8 D., to 4-1/4 L. Including a small red-brown pottery foot vessel with some remaining black geometric decoration. Ancient chips on the spout rim, otherwise intact. Together with a brown ware pottery double dish with six bird heads at the corners, four mammary form legs. Scattered mineral deposits on the surface. One beak chipped, otherwise intact. A miniature olla having bands of black painted geometric decoration on a cream ground, red painted rim. Intact. Finally, a blackware pottery miniature ribbed olla having a large strap loop handle. Small opening in the top of body. The spoon element and the duck s bill are restored. Closing: Thursday, May 19th, 2:16 P.M Bell Pestle Hammer West Mexico. for hammer stone. 7-3/8 L., stone only. 13-1/2 handle. Brown hard stone large pestle hammer having a long tapered body terminating in a point and a flat opposing head. Overall roughly hewn pecked surface. Several ancient chips around the flat head rim. Including three solid pottery standing female figures, holding their hands to their stomachs, wearing simple nose rings and two with arm bands. Some remaining white and red-orange painted details and highlights. All have some paint loss, otherwise intact. Closing: Thursday, May 19th, 2:20 P.M Michoacan Pottery Teapot Vessel Michoacan, Mexico. Ca A.D. 6-3/4 H. ex. Dr. David Harner collection, Arkansas, 1950 s-60 s. Red-brown pottery teapot vessel having a fluted body and a high basket type handle with two small vessels forming the spouts, long tubular pour spout at the front. Some remaining traces of geometric decoration. Handle and one vessel reattached with breaklines slightly visible, otherwise intact. The example wearing a skirt has a chip on the right foot, otherwise both are intact. Together with a redware figure with hands on his knees. Traces of black painted details and highlights, scattered mineral deposits on the surface. Missing tip of left leg. Finally, a small redware pottery seated figure with nubbin arms and legs. 7 612. Jalisco Polychrome Bowls (2) Jalisco, Mexico. 5 D., 2-5/8 H. & 8-5/8 D., 5-1/4 H. ex. Dr. David Harner collection, Arkansas, 1950 s-60 s. Collection #s V-100 and ST. Large and small pottery bowls of similar design, both decorated with interior and exterior wide cream bands with stylized red-brown snakes and faded black resist geometric elements. Scattered areas of mineral deposits on the surface. Both have a very minor rim flakes and minor paint loss, otherwise intact. Closing: Thursday, May 19th, 2:28 P.M Two Colima Incised Bowls Colima, Mexico. 7-3/8 D., 3-3/4 H. & 7 D., 4-1/2 H. ex. Dr. David Harner collection, Arkansas, 1950 s-60 s. Collection # CH324 for one. Two red-brown pottery bowls both having fineline incised geometric decoration. The larger example has two opposing panels with stylized spiders and two with rectangular geometric elements. A v-shape original piece reattached in the rim, otherwise intact. Other bowl has a wide band of crosshatched net pattern. A very minor hairline in rim, otherwise intact. Three similar buff-cream pottery seated hunchback male figures. Two wearing applied segmented head bands and disc ear ornaments, one wearing segmented arm bands and all have large angular noses. Ca. 400 B.C. & 100 A.D. 3-1/4 & 4 H. ex. Dr. David Harner collection, Arkansas, 1950 s-60 s. Collection # s A19 & M199. Pre-classic brown ware pottery hut model, standing on four short integral legs, incised linear woven textured roof with a bird on top of the roof. Scattered areas of light encrustation and mineral deposits. Intact. Together with a black ware pottery round hut model having a dome roof decorated with rows of small nubs. 8 616. Colima Mothers with Children (3) Colima, Mexico. 3-1/16, 3-3/8, 4-1/4 H. Three natural buff-brown solid pottery examples including one nursing a child and two mothers, each holding a child on her laps. Nursing example has a surface chip on her left arm. One seated example has loss to head band and hairdo. One with the child s head restored. Closing: Thursday, May 19th, 2:36 P.M Nayarit Small Figures (3) Nayarit, Mexico. 5-1/4-6-1/8 H. Including two solid pottery standing figures and one seated hollow pottery female figure. All have elongated heads, mushrooming at the top. Two with nose rings and one wearing arm bands. Various cream and redorange painted ground and details. The two standing figures have some scattered surface pitting. Seated female is intact. Three similar single strand necklaces composed of small red and black pottery beads with various elements, including thin mahogany obsidian discs, small gray stone figures, black pottery anthropomorphic figures and one red pottery zoomorph. 9 620. Colima Obsidian Disc Pottery & Stone Bead Necklaces (3) Colima, Mexico. 22 to 30 L. Three similar single strand necklaces composed of small red and black pottery beads with thin mahogany and black obsidian discs and long flake type, pendant beads. One necklace has a double bead type pendant, one strand has a zoomorphic red pottery pendant, with loss to his snout. All modern strung, without clasps. Est. $450-$650 Closing: Thursday, May 19th, 2:44 P.M Nayarit/Chinesco Figures (3) Nayarit, Mexico Ca. 100 B.C A.D. 4, 6 & 6-1/4 H. Including a Chinesco seated figure with splayed legs, having a tan ground with red-brown highlights and painted details. A few very minor paint flakes, otherwise intact. Together with a Nayarit seated figure, arms resting on his raised knees. Red and ocher painted surface with some remaining white pigment details. Left foot restored, otherwise intact. Finally, a Nayarit solid pottery standing figure, painted red-brown and cream. Wearing a nose ring and necklace. Intact. Est. $800-$1,200 Closing: Thursday, May 19th, 2:46 P.M Colima Stone Beaded Necklaces (2) West Mexico. 24 & 26 L. Two single strand necklaces, strung without clasps. Composed of nicely graduated stone beads of various type stone in colors of gray, purple, light blue-green and cream. A few beads have simple carved or incised decoration. Most are intact, a couple with minor ancient chips, overall exc. cond. Nice examples. Closing: Thursday, May 19th, 2:48 P.M Strands of Shell & Stone Beads (2) West Mexico. 27 L. each. Both are single stand necklaces, strung without clasps. One necklace strung with seventeen larger stone beads and groups of disc shell beads in between. The other necklace is composed of nineteen medium size stone beads with groups of disc shell beads in between. Both are in overall exc. cond. Closing: Thursday, May 19th, 2:50 P.M.

10 624. Colima Stone Axes (2) Colima, Mexico. 4-1/2 & 3-3/8 L. Two different hardstone axe heads including a zoomorphic axe head of medium gray stone with mauve veining. Depicting a canine head with drilled eyes and perked ears, grooved around the neck, opposing crescent form blade. Nicely pecked surface with scattered areas of encrustation. Intact. Together with a green-gray stone grooved axe head. Scattered areas of surface encrustation. Intact. Closing: Thursday, May 19th, 2:52 P.M Colima Shell Pendants (3) Colima, Mexico. 4, 5 & 6-1/2 L. ] Three large carved shell pendants including a cayman, an abstract fish-form and a large claw form pendant. All have drilled perforations for suspension. Cayman has overall light surface weathering otherwise intact. The fish-form is repaired from two original pieces. Three similar solid pottery figures, all wearing ankle length skirts, headbands, nose rings and necklaces. Holding their hands to their waists. Some remaining red-orange and white painted decoration and highlights. Scattered mineral deposits on the surfaces, some loss to the painted surfaces, otherwise intact. Four different natural buff-brown solid pottery standing figures, including one female figure depicted with a long hairdo, wearing a necklace, intricately incised decoration on her legs. Right arm reattached, tiny chip on nose and shoulder, otherwise intact. Together with a warrior wearing a necklace having a face pendant and wearing a horned headdress. Wearing a tasseled loincloth, with incised decoration. Strong mineral deposits on the surface. Minor chip on nose, otherwise intact. A smaller figure wearing a loincloth with tassels and necklace. Repaired from two pieces with restoration over the breakline. Finally, a figure wearing a loincloth, having long rear hair tails. Intact. Closing: Thursday, May 19th, 2:58 P.M.

11 628. Nayarit Standing Figures (4) Nayarit, Mexico. 4-1/8, 4-1/2, 4-1/2 & 7-1/2 H. Solid pottery standing figures, probably all females, having various degrees of painted decoration remaining. Scattered mineral deposits on the surfaces. The smallest example has a reattached head, others are intact. Natural buff-brown solid pottery standing female figures holding their arms to their sides, all made by the same hand. Elongated heads having a large banded headdress. Some remaining areas of ocher surface pigment. Scattered mineral deposits on the surface. Left leg reattached on one figure. Both legs and left arm restored on another figure. Final figure is intact. Five natural buff-brown standing figures including three similar figures, depicted with long striated hairdos with tails crossing under their chins, holding their hands to their chests. Wearing incised decorated loincloths with a long side tassel. Largest and medium examples have both legs reattached. The other has her right foot tip reattached and some loss to the left side of hairdo. Together with a male and female, flat figures. Both have their legs and head reattached, female has left arm restored. The male s penis is restored. Est. $1,000-$1,500 Closing: Thursday, May 19th, 3:04 P.M Archaeological Shells (3) Colima, Mexico. 3-3/8, 4-3/8 & 9 L. Including a large natural spiral shell form trumpet. Surface polished smooth with a center cut band. Drilled perforation for suspension. Open front tip mouth piece. Overall scattered mineral deposits and some surface erosion. Together with a small shell, decorated with an incised geometric decoration. Minor edge loss, otherwise intact. Finally, a long spiral shell having two drilled suspension holes, worn as a pendant. 12 632. Colima Small Dog Colima, Mexico. 5 H., 6-3/4 L. Collection # M151. Chocolate brown pottery standing dog vessel having a collar spout in the center of his back. Slightly raised rear hunch, head slightly down, perked ears. Small restored rim chips, tips of ears and tail restored, otherwise intact. Closing: Thursday, May 19th, 3:08 P.M Colima Horned Toad Pottery Vessel Colima, Mexico. 9-1/4 nose to spout. Collection # ST41. Two-tone red-brown and tan pottery horned toad having a wide tail spout, segmented multi ridged back and horned head. Overall scattered surface encrustation. Horns on head and several of the rib segments have been restored, tail rim partially restored. A scarce type. Two zoomorphic pottery examples including a reclining stylized jaguar type, rear tail spout, connected with a bridge handle. Faded black and reddish-brown geometric decoration. Together with a larger example depicting a stylized zoomorph. Black and red painted geometric decoration and details. Rear tail spout connected with a bridge handle. Private Tucson collection, acquired in 1956 from Herbert Zim. Decorated pottery bowl standing on tripod legs decorated in relief with stylized faces. Wide exterior painted band of stepped geometric elements and a stylized bird. Interior bottom of bowl impressed with a random linear decoration. Finely carved ovoid mask adorned with an attached knit headband, crowning the sloping forehead with raised central ridge and detailed hairline. Large open oval eyes are framed by notched brows, projecting nose with flaring nostrils also incised, and mouth has hinged lower jaw with carved wood teeth. Hair attachement is applied to upper lip. Last, a Kirdi brass/bronze currency axe or dance baton cast of single piece with crescentic edge, handle with braided border detail, concentric disc in corner of blade.
