3 The Erich Kästner School has dedicated parents and volunteers who wish to change the school s appearance. By the time I got involved, they were looking for fresh thinking to take their initial idea to the next level./ push their work a step further. I focused on the school s ethos in which the individual is seen as part of a team. This lead to a logo that visualizes the school s key motif of inclusion whilst simultaneously reflecting its building s fundaments. Based on this new piece of identity, I developed a wide range of communication materials for the school - from business and greeting cards to buttons and letter heads as well as photographs for their online presentation. In collaboration with the top leadership, we then moved on to implement a cultural change. As a result the new corporate identity has had an impact

8 I have been working with fibcom for over 10 years. When the company outgrew everybody s expectations, they realized the need for more than just a logo. We started to develop a corporate identity and philosophy to ultimately shape their visual aesthetics. A six hour branding workshop helped to explore fibcom s universe and lead to a report describing the general attitude of the business and its employees: the IT-company shares values of German manufacturing and highly appreciates reliability and in-house training of new blood. To reflect fibcom s roots we chose a high quality, efficient and durable object: the chalk board. It is the basic element of their new appearance featuring on website, business cards and letter head.. It s even spreading to their office space! A dedicated office wall will trasform into a giant chalk board and the sterile plastic boards will be thrown out. Up to this point, fibcom s ethos was lived but never communicated clearly. The current focus lies on a new set of promotional materials to let the outside feel what fibcom is about, too. The initial branding workshop motivated change and shaped fibcom s self awareness. It has now become their guiding principle and the report serves as their design guide.

26 The Schwarz Foundation organises the Samos Young Artist Festival and runs the Art Space Pythagorion. The two have become institutions on the Greek island and draw attention from international media. After five successful years, the organically grown culture has reached a point where a new formal structure is required. I took the opportunity to present my ideas for a possible future communication strategy.
