Here are some tips to help make the experience less stressful and more enjoyable Plan out your shopping spots. The stress of driving in and around Houston is bad enough without having to also look for shopping locations. Take someone you trust to give you a hand in choosing the right dress. Remember at a retailer you ll pay retail price but at a resale or consignment store, you re paying a fraction of that price and can save big! Size and fit can make or break the look. Always check to see if the dress can be taken in or let out at an alterations location near your home. Color is also very important to let you be who you are when you are experiencing your big night. Choose a color that you re comfortable with and enhances your beauty. Choosing the right pattern is essential as well. Some patterns can make you look taller or thinner so choose a pattern that appeals to you. Your body shape and size should also be considered when choosing. If you have features that you feel are big for your size, try something that enhances other parts of your body. When shopping for a dress, know that online purchasing is risky in several ways. Dress sizes are not standardized by manufacturers so a size 14 could be more like a 12 or a 16. Also, you can t feel the material to see if you like it and are comfortable with it. Shop resale or consignment boutiques when you can and as often as you can. You can save a bundle on something that may have never been worn before or used only once. Just think a $500 dress for only $100. When shopping at resale boutiques, be sure to check the dress from top to bottom and inside and out. Look for snags, stains, tears, and loose seams.
