2 FRENN AUTUMN WINTER 2018 COMPOSITIONS Helsinki-based menswear line combines straightforward honest Finnish design, relaxed sophistication and urban functionality with an edge. For AW18 their core, the modern craftsmanship and attention to detail is updated with fresh Scandinavian colours, rich textures and a print from collaboration with Finnish artist Stig Baumgartner. FRENN believes in impeccable quality and formality with exceptional ease, comfort and freedom along with clever details. Classy athleisure meets sophistication in a unique way. With FRENN it is easy to relax, feel and look good, not having to think about what to wear to which occasion, work or play. FRENN is responsibly hand-manufactured in Northern Europe from premium quality, ecologically sourced European fabrics. Inspired by Baumgartner The AW18 collection brings out more intensive colour contrasts, interesting textures and prints and takes a leap towards more contemporary menswear. New functional fabrics take wearability and comfort yet to another level. Nano finished and machine washable wools are a perfect choice for work, travel and leisure. Mohair, herringbone tweed, wool plaid and corduroy give added twist to the collection. FRENN was born to fill a gap in the menswear market. Two creative professionals from Finland, Antti Laitinen and Jarkko Kallio founded FRENN in 2013 fulfilling the need to update menswear traditions with innovation and ease. They both have over twenty years experience in textile and clothing industry, earning their stripes in major Finnish textile and design firms. FRENN was honoured with the Design Deed of the Year 2017 award in Finland and has been featured among others in Wallpaper, L Uomo Vogue, Korean GQ, Highsnobiety and Hypebeast. 9 STIG BAUMGARTNER FRENN is always strongly inspired by art and architecture. For AW18 collection it is even more obvious with a rare collaboration with Stig Baumgartner, an award winning Finnish artist. Both FRENN and the artist have a strong story to tell through their work. Baumgartner s work is inspired by private experiences and memories and his oil paintings are infused with a dynamic sense of something having just happened or something about to happen. He makes no clear distinction between geometrical constructivism and abstract expressionism: both schools of painting have both an emotion-driven and intellect-driven side. Baumgartner s works are found in Finland s leading museums, and he has won awards including the William Thuring Prize in Baumgartner is a perfect companion, a friend since many years, often wearing FRENN himself.
