3 This fair truly highlights the Make in India sentiment In the little time that I have spent in this ministry, I have seen a lot of possibilities in the handicrafts sector. I am also happy to see how much our manufacturers are doing to challenge the competition they are facing from other Asian nations. A look at the products displayed at such prime fairs of the Santosh Kumar sector are testimony to this. Echoing our Hon ble Prime Minister s sentiment on Gangwar Make in India, I urge this sector to Minister of State for focus on skill development and confidence Textiles, Govt. of India building of artisans so that they are encouraged to continue the art of craft making with assurance of good returns and improved livelihood. The support of my office in the Ministry of Textiles will always be there for you. Hon ble Minister of State for Textiles, Govt. of India, Mr. Santosh Kumar Gangwar shares his thoughts with media persons at an informal press meet, soon after taking a round of the Fair, post the inauguration ceremony on 14th October Mr. Bhagwat Saran Gangwar, Minister of State for Small Scale Industries and Export Promotion, Uttar Pradesh at IHGF Delhi Fair-Autumn 2014 In his encouraging and spirited address, Hon'ble Minister of State for Textiles, Govt. of India, Mr. Santosh Kumar Gangwar, had words of appreciation and advice for EPCH and the handicrafts sector. "EPCH has done a commendable job in the past several years in making IHGF an important instrument for marketing Indian handicrafts worldwide," he said and shared that he is privileged to have seen so much of the industry in this short span of his taking over office in the Ministry of Textiles. "The importance of artisans can never be undermined as it is their skills that have won recognition for our handicrafts industry in overseas markets. To stop the new generation of artisans from moving away to other fields in search of better remuneration and livelihood, it has become imperative to focus on skilling and empowering them," he emphasized and referred to the 'dying art' status of rich craft skills that seem to be fading with time as no one wishes to take them up now. Citing his recent visit to Leh with the Prime Minister, Mr. Narender Modi, he shared, it is of deep concern to see the famed Pashmina on the verge of extinction. It has to be restored with collective efforts. Leh is a place in the extreme northern part of India, that is famous for Pashmina shawls. Specially in the handicraft industry, people are reluctant to work since they feel they do not get an equal reward for a tedious work that they do. Hence the Ministry is working for providing profitable opportunities for them. Through our handicraft we should not just aim to be famous within our nation, but make an impact on the world as a whole. With this, Mr. Gangwar called on the handicraft sector to generate employment opportunities and assured of his Ministry's support in any endeavour in this direction. He said that understanding the situation of craftsmen caught between the decision of continuing the family craft heritage or abandoning it, the Ministry of Textiles is working hard to give a respectable position to artisans of the country. Recently the Prime Minister has announced Rs. 31 crore support to the industry, which Mr. Gangwar will personally be looking after. He also shared that the new Govt. has opened 13 textile parks for the benefit of the sector. Congratulating EPCH and exporters for achieving USD39 million exports in the previous financial year, Mr. Gangwar shared his confidence that the target of 45 to 50 million USD would be met. He added, "this data that proves our growth only highlights our efforts in fulfilling expectations of Prime Minister, Mr. Narendra Modi and his call for 'Make in India'. He, in his budget also declared seven mega clusters in the country only for the betterment of the society, which is just an elemental step. It is important for us to create employment opportunities given the rising population on India." It is a great pleasure to see this fair and I believe it has indeed become the largest home lifestyle and fashion show in the entire world which the buying community will really look up to, said Mr. Samir Kumar Biswas, Development Commissioner (Handicrafts), Ministry of Textiles, Govt. of

8 IHGF Delhi Fair Emergence of new Entrepreunerial Class IHGF Delhi Fair-Autumn 2014, represented by over 2700 exhibitors in fifteen product categories spread across 14 halls at the India Expo Centre speaks a lot for itself. The overall look is refreshing and inviting with a judicial play of colours. The culturals and facilities are just value additions to the main course - a very in-your-face presentation. Certainly, manufacturers have worked really hard on their R&D to bring in innovations and new look products. Textiles, metals, furniture, decoratives, houseware, spa and bath products.all so neat in display and inviting. Buyers acknowledge the fact that Indian manufacturers have been the quickest to learn and adapt, so they make products, comparable to the best in the world and very much confirming to new trends, while retaining a fair share in Indian heritage whenever buyers demand. A Canada based exporter who has already been working in US, UK, and Canada is a new entrant to the fair, and has displayed beautiful wooden candle stands, as a result of their fine collaboration with a company in India. They have come up with an artificial flameless candles made of wax and fiber. It is a very new concept of flickering lights with a timer in it that can be customized according to the buyer's need allowing them changes in size, colours and patterns. They wish to innovate in the times to come by fusing more texture and patterns in their manufacturing. The technology used in these artificial candles is unique, making these products a first timer in the Asian market. The flickering flames are eye catching and add to the crafted originality of these pieces. A Jaipur based exporter of wooden furniture items has displayed creative wooden geometrical racks and furniture. Mainly using sheesham and brass in their products, they cater to buyers majorly from Australia and USA. This was their fifteenth participation at the fair and they bring in freshness in the products at every edition. A Moradabad based exporter, inspired by the ideas of their regular buyers in EPCH's April fair, displayed a wide range of nested tables in different shapes and subtle colours to mainly attract buyers from US and Europe, This he said, could both be used as an outdoor and indoor furniture and is mainly purchased in sets. With a minimalist tone to them, these products speak aloud of beauty and simplicity. In their second participation, an exhibitor from Jaipur displayed a variety of homeware made using local wood from Rajasthan. This time they got a wide range of antlers, several depiction of wild and aquatic animals as home decor products, coin like decor made using MDF wood etc. Their existing buyers were from US and Netherlands but they hoped to add more buyers to their list through the appealing products they got. A permanent exhibitor from Meerut displayed products with plumbing fittings - recycled small furniture, book racks, candle stands and wall

9 Business minds work and connect to open opportunities hangings. They earlier dealt only in swords and armors, but seeing a positive response to their small furniture segment, decided to expand the category. A Kolkata based exhibitor of jute displayed trendy cotton-jute bags. They do customization according to buyers and also have their original designs which sell very well. They only deal in authentic and designer jute bags and believe that they have been doing good business because of the fair and EPCH. A Ghaziabad based exporter of jewelry and handmade accessories made using metals like tin and brass thanked EPCH in fulfilling the marketing and publicity requirement of the exhibitors. His lead free and nickel free tin jewelry has been a popular trend among his regular buyers. One of the first time participants at the fair brought in beautiful decor pieces made using pine wood and resin. It is one of its kind rare artwork done on inner side of pinewood that reflects white light in different colours giving the pieces a beautiful and exuberant look. They also showcased beautifully designed lightening pieces which were never seen in the show before. They started the business six months ago and since then have worked hard in designing one of its kind pieces to be displayed exclusively at this fair. Ramp Presentations Chunky Fashion Jewellery & Vibrant Accessories to apparel highlighted When a new business avenue is presented, business minds work and connect to open many more opportunities. Such is the assuaged impact of bringing key players in Rakesh Kumar the Indian retail and Executive Director, e-tail sector to this EPCH IHGF Delhi Fair. As a direct connect, the manufacturers & exporters can open up supply to domestic volume buyers and retailers who in turn get to source and further market world class products. Also, the fast expanding e-tail business module is an apt mode to establish and popularize brand names. There are also larger implications and opportunities. In the emerging global trade scenario, the buyer and seller remain, but roles can intertwine and change. For example, an exporter s overseas buyer could well become a supplier of unique foreign products to the exporter s domestic volume buyer, and the exporter can act as a local agent/representative. Hence, our new initiatives provide unparalleled opportunity to all stakeholders, including our visiting overseas buyers, who can expand their business by becoming global traders and tap the fast growing and evolving Indian consumer market. 10 Prime Interest : Gift & Home Deco I am visiting India for the 8th time. I feel that Delhi Fair is bigger and it will help in saving time, effort and money. Registration process needs to be improved as it was chaotic in the morning. The ambience of the fair is much better this year. I loved the cultural taste added to the fair. Garth, UK Groupings of the products are more organized and products are easily accessible. I would suggest the organizers to stick to one name for the fair. So many changes in the name ultimately confuse us. I really appreciate the innovation taken up by the organizers. Prime Interest: General Gift items, Seasonal and Stationeries Amy Knight, Wholeseller and Retailer, Canada Buyers This is my first visit to India and one of my suppliers informed me about Delhi Fair. The environment is very welcoming. I did download the official App of Delhi Fair and must say it's helpful. We were looking for something new and different from the other markets. I am quite surprised to see products here that are as good as those in international markets. Prime Interest : Furniture Enric Didz, Wholesaler and I got to know about the fair from my friends. The whole package of the fair is good and the cultural touch which is added this time has made it more Indian. The only reason for visiting Delhi fair was to see Retailer, Spain creativity and innovation. Iron rods & Leather products are nice. The products are not cheaper as expected. Also the fair has products which are too specific to the Asian market. They should try and orient it in a way which makes it equally valuable for us. Prime Interest: Furniture and Home Deco I am visiting IHGF fair for the 4th time. I started my business from Jodhpur and eventually landed here. The internet promotions were helpful and I got to know about the whole New Delhi Fair from EPCH John Chamberlain, . Technological Online Wholesaler, advancements are always Chile welcome. App and QR Codes have made things easy, friendly and more accessible for us. Larger Fair is more fun as you get to see varied products from different exhibitors. I would rank Delhi Fair as No 1 globally. Design, quality, innovation and hard work are just unbeatable. Also, it's easy to do business with Indians. Cultural shows have made this fair truly Indian. Prime Interest: Furniture, Small Items, Lightings and Gifts Mailers sent by EPCH were of great help. Information shared had made things accessible for us. Delhi Fair is a much better format as it allows us to save time and effort. I feel there is more furniture this year. Fair is much bigger and I hope that prices would be equally satisfying. The products range is mixed. This time you are able to locate what you are searching for easily, it seems like the entire Fair is more creative and innovative. Technological Jaokim Hermansson, innovation is always welcome. Though I haven't Wholesaler, Sweden downloaded the App yet but I think it's useful. Prime Interest: Furniture and Lighting I feel the newly branded Delhi fair is larger and better. I have people in Jaipur who informed me about the Fair. I did download the App and its fine and I am happy to see such innovations in the Indian fair. However, I feel updates have not been communicated well. Folk and cultural touch is good as we are getting to know about the country. Some products are worth buying. Few of them are really good but prices are not what I expected. John Crapse, I love the hard work and effort of Indian Artisans and Wholeseller, US that is what makes me come to India. The Skills and quality of the products takes Indian handicrafts above China.. Prime Interest: Gifts Titiana, Wholesaler and also runs online Shop, Russia This is my first visit to India. I received an from EPCH and thought of just trying it. I am surprised to see the ambience and expansion of the fair. It's Huge. I used to do business with China but it's no more creative. Indian exhibitors have variety to offer. They still need to work harder though. Hong Kong fair is larger and better. But best is that you enjoy more freedom in terms of quantity unlike China. The fair attracted me a lot. There is lot to see and explore. Thanks to the Indian Exporters who invited me here and ensured my presence.

11 Comment... Prime Interest: Furniture and Accessories I have been in this business for the past 32 years and have been to 64 countries. I do business in large volumes and that is what keeps me going from one market to Martin Link, another. Indians need Designer, Wholesaler to improve the fair on and Exporter, France a large scale in order to establish themselves as world leaders. I will be opening my office in India shortly. The bigger fair is better but you should also be capable of handling the pressure. Technological advancements are good but for me QR codes are useless. However, App is a welcome initiative. I visit India because of growing demand of Indian Handicrafts in Europe. Indian products are trending in our market, a positive sign for us and Indian exporters too. Prime Interest: Textiles and Clothing We mainly deal in textiles and clothing and are here to source the same. Prior to this I have sourced from the shows in Jodhpur but this show is so much bigger and has so Tarek Thesbian, much to offer, Lebanon although sadly not in the product line we are interested in. However, what we see here is so much different from what we were already importing and delivers the immense capability of Indian designers and manufacturers. Prime Interest: Textiles We have been importing from India for over a decade, though this is our first visit to the fair. Our main focus in the fair is mainly on textiles in natural colors and earthy tones. There is not much on display in the segment we deal in but all that we could find matching it has been beautiful. Kashmiri hand stitched textiles have been quite of interest to us, they kind of match the style we want to source and Damian Gerard we deal in. We are happy to note a lot of suppliers Burke, Australia of good furniture, doors and windows that now makes us think about importing this segment too from the country. Overall, we are happy to be in the fair and it is exuberant and charming enough. We would want to revisit the show. Prime Interest: Giftware and other Textiles We are wholesalers and retailers of all kind of handicraft products including furniture, home décor, home textiles etc. Here at the show, we are mainly looking for giftware and cushions and other home textiles. A lot of beautiful and new block printing on home textiles has caught our attention and we are positive of placing orders for the same. We have been coming to the show for more than five years Sara and Enid and the new arrangement seems beautiful and big Jennifer, with many more new suppliers who have freshness New Zealand brilliant display. In the first day only, I am sure I would leave with a new list of suppliers I am ready to do business with. We Prime are Interest: quite happy Recycled with what and the Up-cycled organization Furniture has been doing and would love to congratulate them on their effort. I have been coming to this show for 5 years now and the new format of the show has made it bigger, and it seems little strange but beautiful. I mainly deal in recycled and up-cycled furniture. I import only from India with major suppliers from Delhi, Kolkata and Pondicherry. Since I give the manufacturers my own designs, I base my opinion on stringing ties with them on the excellence of their knowhow and the material Jean Marc Attia, that they use. The fair has gone bigger but I am France someone who would want to see it in the old format and was happy with the same. With separate halls of different section, what is in the stalls, especially in the furniture segment, moreover feels the same and makes it difficult to decide who would suit best to our needs. Prime Interest: Metal Décor Products Cesar Gomer, Canada I have been a regular visitor to this show for the last twelve years. This new version of IHGF is big in all senses- size, products, standards etc. It is now more organized and concentrated and is capable of attracting more buyers. Along with India, I also import from China, Indonesia and Philippines, though 40 % of our business comes from India. I am here to source metal décor pieces including everything like candle holders, lamps, baskets, table décor, floor décor etc. I have come across new vendors bringing novelty in the lines and have placed orders too. Among pieces that I like were bronze lamps, metal candle holders, steel table décor etc. As a whole, I am quite pleased with this new show.
