Baker/Sylvia Small Janet Swigler Featured Speaker january 14, 2018 Stitching fabric has appealed t me since I was a child, sewing things t lk at, wear, and use. Since retiring frm a career in music educatin in 2013, I have been explring art thrugh quilting. My quilt wrk was initially representatinal, trying t capture in fabric inspiratin frm nature and everyday life. Nw I am beginning t create cmpsitins that imprvise n and abstract thse same subjects, and that ften includes an element f, r reference t music. Janet Swigler taught music in public schls fr many years and has yielded t her artistic yearnings. She studied with Nancy Crw at the CrCrw in the Crw Timber Barn in Ohi. Janet has had sme ne wman shws and has been accepted in ArtFields several times. She wn an Award f Merit there. She has wn tw prizes at SC State Fair. She was in the 30th Anniversary Shw at Suth Carlina State Museum. Janet was juried int USC s McKissick Museum twice. She was in the Andersn Arts Center Juried Shw twice and was chsen as an artist-in-residence fr the S.C. State Parks in 2014 and Janet cntinues her studies and her wrk with fabric. Page 1

Als she will be starting jewelry making classes in the spring at the Village Artist in the class rm area. She wil be bringing in new items.

The exhibit will be displayed thrugh January 24. Lee Sipe s submissin t Artfields 2019 has been accepted. Artfields will take place in Lake City, SC, between April 26, 2019 and May 4, 2019.

Flavia s art was accepted int ArtFields 2019 and she was invited t the GreenHill Art Center s Winter Shw in Greensbr which lasts thrugh the mnth f January.

Inspired by the prgram frm the upcming Rmful f Teeth cncert, Winsted s exhibit will be n display in the Schl f Music Library Jan Feb. 4, The exhibit will als be displayed n the night f the cncert, Jan.17, 2019 at the entrance f the Jhnsn Perfrmance Hall in the Darla Mre Schl f Business (1014 Greene St). By participating in the exhibit, yu authrize the use f yur phtgraph in publicatins abut the event. Members in gd standing as f February 11 may submit ne piece f tw-dimensinal r threedimensinal art. All artwrk must be riginal and cmpleted within the last three years. Pieces previusly accepted int a TAG juried shw are nt eligible. Nudes will be accepted, subject t apprval by the shw chair and Best Mattress management. Tw-dimensinal artwrk must be framed (wd r metal) r have finished edges (gallery wrap canvas) and must be dry and wired fr hanging. N saw-tth hangers. Artists wh submit three-dimensinal wrk must prvide a base/pedestal f adequate size fr exhibitin. ORIGINALITY OF WORK POLICY Artwrk entered int juried shws must be riginal and cmpleted within the last three years. Please use hnrable ethics cncerning riginality f yur wrk. If a piece entered int a juried shw appears t nt be riginal, the TAG Shw Cmmittee will cnsult with the artist. Where reference material is nt created by the artist, he r she must cntact the wner f the riginal reference and btain permissin fr its use. Withut dcumented riginality, public dmain surce, r permissin t use suspected cpyrighted material, the Shw Cmmittee reserves the right t refuse entry f the piece, declare the wrk ineligible fr award, r withdraw an award. All burdens related t cpyright shall be the full respnsibility f participants.
