3 Imprving Adhesin The prducts f the TEGO AddBnd series are specialty plyester resins fr use as adhesin-enhancing cmpnents in slventbrne, waterbrne, r radiatin-curing catings and printing inks. Due t their brad cmpatibility with a large number f binders they are very suitable fr physically r xidatively drying, thermsetting, r radiatin-curing frmulatins. They imprve adhesin t a number f substrates, including critical substrates like metals, minerals, and varius types f plastics, and are therefre ften used in under cats. They als imprve intercat adhesin, s that they are highly recmmended even in multi-cat frmulatins. The adhesive pwer f the TEGO AddBnd prducts, cmbined with their excellent resistance t hydrlysis and their water-repellent prperties, significantly imprve crrsin prtectin in catings. In effect catings, TEGO AddBnd imprves the chesin within the film layer. Mrever, these prducts als help t imprve glss and flexibility. Avid string TEGO AddBnd 1270 at temperatures belw 10 C and TEGO AddBnd DS 1300 at temperatures belw 5 C. 4 Prperties and Applicatins General Because f free carbxyl grups present in the resins, reactins may ccur with basic pigments (e.g., zinc xide). This reactin culd be beneficial and lead t a higher paint film density. On the ther hand, this may lead t an undesirable increase in viscsity. Using smaller amunts f TEGO AddBnd r chsing a mre cmpatible grade culd be helpful. Adhesin may deterirate if resins are used alng with surfactants. Resins may be cmbined with ply silxanes in the usual dsages. TEGO AddBnd HS TEGO AddBnd HS is a high slids c-binder. The use f TEGO AddBnd HS in paint frmulatins enables the VOC cntent t be reduced. The prduct results in excellent adhesin prperties n metals and plastics. TEGO AddBnd LTW, LTW-B and 2220 ND The sft TEGO AddBnd LTW, LTW-B and 2220 ND have a flexibilizing effect and differ frm ne anther primarily in their supply frm. TEGO AddBnd 2220 ND is particularly suitable in the can cating and cil cating sectrs. Systems based n saturated plyester resins, amine resins and iscyanate resins demnstrate better strage and prcessing prperties. TEGO AddBnd The swelling f hard TEGO AddBnd in water is very minimal. Disslved in plasticizers, it can be used in the manu facture f self-adhering rgansls and plastisls. One ntewrthy feature is that plasticizers d nt migrate int TEGO AddBnd when it is applied t plasticizer-cntaining PVC. In radiatincuring systems TEGO AddBnd tends t increase the curing speed. Furthermre, vlume shrinkage that ccurs during curing can be reduced. T achieve shrt disslving times, heat shuld be used alng with fast stirrers in the prductin f resin slutins. A minimum disslving temperature between 50 and 60 C is recmmended fr slvents and mnmers. Fr plasticizers this temperature shuld be between 90 and 100 C. TEGO AddBnd 2325 TEGO AddBnd 2325 is particularly suitable fr use in systems in which ther TEGO AddBnd prducts are incmpatible. TEGO AddBnd 1270 TEGO AddBnd leads t a significant increase f adhesin and crrsin resistance f paints. After neutralizing with amines, it is water reducible and can be used in water-dilutable paints. TEGO AddBnd DS 1300 TEGO AddBnd DS 1300 is used in waterbrne air-drying and thermsetting catings. page 4 Prduct Grup TEGO AddBnd
