1 Co-organizer 协办单位 : Show report SIOF 2013 continued the advocation of Innovation and brands and was 17% bigger than last year. The most established and sizeable optical trade fair of Asia once again marched into the Shanghai World Expo Exhibition & Convention Centre, occupying all the 4 exhibition halls on February The venue is the best and most accessible spot in Shanghai as it is the exact venue of the World Expo SIOF 2013 occupied a stunningly massive gross exhibition area of 72,000 square meters, of which Hall 2 was the prestige international product hall. Hall 1, 3 and 4 accommodated iconic Chinese exhibitors together with all the major regional Chinese group delegations. And to lead international eyewear shows, on top of specifically assigning booths according to categories, SIOF 2013 incorporated Procurement Zone in the venue to facilitate buyers to place orders on their desired products after viewing on site. The success of the SIOF was also well recognized by the country : it was endorsed by China s Ministry of Commerce as one of the most prestigious exhibitions of the whole country, and by China National Light Industry Council as 1 of the 10 most distinguished exhibitions of the light industry of China. Regarding SIOF 2013, though facing competition of rival exhibitions of other countries and global economic recession, she achieved a 17% expansion of exhibition area, reaching 72,000 square metres, as stated, with 299 international exhibitors, including principals and agents, from 23 countries and regions; 312 overseas brands were represented. Indeed, all SIOF editions have possessed the strongest league of Chinese and international brands, outnumbering all other Asian optical shows. In relation to the number of Chinese exhibitors, at SIOF 2013 the number was 517-making the total number of exhibitors being 816-it is obvious that SIOF is the most ideal arena for international and local companies to show off under one roof and market their masterpieces to the buyers from China and abroad. In relation to buyer statistics, 62,541 times of visiting were recorded. Actually, they came from 74 countries and regions : Algeria, Argentina, Australia, Austria, Bangladesh, Belgium, Botswana, Brazil, Cambodia, Cameroon, Canada, Chile, China, Colombia, Costa Rica, Cote D ivoire, Denmark, Ecuador, Egypt, Finland, France, Gambia, Germany, Ghana, Greece, Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, Iran, Israel, Italy, Japan, Jordan, Kenya, Korea, Kuwait, Lebanon, Malaysia, Mexico, Mongolia, Morocco, Myanmar, New Zealand, Nigeria, Norway, Oman, Pakistan, Panama, Peru, Poland, Romania, Russia, Saudi Arabia, Serbia, Singapore, South Africa, Spain, Sri Lanka, Sweden, Switzerland, Syria, Taiwan Region, Tanzania, Thailand, The Netherlands, The Philippines, Tunisia, Turkey, United Arab Emirates, United Kingdom, Ukraine, United States of America, Venezuela, Vietnam and Yemen. This time, having Vision Culture (Hong Kong) and Bao Dao, the leading optical chain of Taiwan province and China respectively as our exhibitors was big encouragement, indicating that participating at a sizeable show like SIOF2013 could help them exert more influence and meet with more potential business partners. Another very important exhibitor was actually SILMO, the optical exhibition of France, who chose to attend our show. It showed how much SILMO had been impressed by all previous SIOF editions and it reinstated the very strong ties between SILMO and SIOF, the 2 big S in the global optical scene. In particular, SILMO chose to become our exhibitor so as to tighten ties with Chinese eyewear companies while letting even more French optical associates learn about SIOF (and definitely also SIOF s sister show CIOF) and participate in it. It really was mutually beneficial, worthwhile and double-edged.

5 Co-organizer 协办单位 : And the top 3 participating countries in SIOF 2013 s international hall were: (1) Japan ( 1,056 sqm occupied) (2) Germany ( 994 sqm occupied) (3) Korea (741 sqm occupied) Japanese exhibitors again did not disappoint any buyers. And to name a few only: Hoya, Seiko, Tokai (Lens), Nidek, Topcon, (Equipment), Mitsui Chemical (Raw Material). As a matter of fact, this year SIOF also took pride in having all the major German icons, including Flair, Horn-I, Lotos, Menrad, Mykita, Rodenstock (Frames), Leybold, Optotech, Satisloh, Schneider (Optical Equipment) etc (in alphabetical order). In aggregate terms, German exhibitors occupied 994 sqm in SIOF 2013 s international hall, as stated. This indicated the very important fact that SIOF 2013 emphasized both style and technology. In relation to Korean exhibitors, regulars such as Bescon, Miottica (Contact Lens), Bando (Frames) were accompanied by newcomer such as Blick (Frames). SIOF 2013 also delightfully welcomed more and more exhibitors from emerging markets. For instance, PDS from Singapore proudly presented at SIOF 2013 their Sworke brand of safety sports sunglasses, which had been gaining recognition worldwide. Another upcomer was Acespex, which signified individuality and her signature brand INC was famous for a hint of youthfulness and modernity. The motto of INC embraced creativity, high quality, abundant colours and exceptionally light raw materials being used. As regards Korean exhibitors, Korea Optical Industry Support Center and Korean Optical Industry Cooperative organized participating delegation at SIOF 2013 and it shined again. On top of the full support rendered by sizeable regulars such as Bescon (contact lens), Miottica (contact lens) and Bando (optical frames), SIOF 2013 also attracted upcomers such as Blick, as mentioned. This year, Korean exhibitors constituted an aggregate exhibition area of 741 sqm in SIOF 2013 s international hall, as stated. Topic: The development and prospect of progressive lens manufacturing Technology-wise, SIOF 2013 also excelled. To cite a few examples clearly cannot picture the whole story and our full strengths but at least it will be a useful pointer. Firstly, the iconic German eyewear brand-mykita, has a patent whereby the hinges can cleverly eliminate the traditional clumsy usage of metal screws and welding by using a very thin stainless steel alloy to suit a great variety of fine shaping stages. Moreover, Mykita s polyamide fibre material goes well with any sort of coating. This material can be molded into any shape and be greatly resistant to heat. Mykita has also used a unique laser cutting technology to formulate the three-dimensional structure so as to increase wearers comfort. Secondly, Tokai s RESONAS progressive lenses are designed for the sake of reducing stresses on vision based on analysis of the brain wave. And model 1.76 BI-AS is now one of the thinnest lenses in the world. Thirdly, authoritative German optical processing equipment manufacturer, Satisloh, stirred heated attention again at SIOF 2013 with VFT-micro-line, the smallest surfacing line for modern digital lens and conventional Rx production. Fourthly, SIOF 1 st timer, British iconic figure Cerium, displayed her latest free-form tooling technology. Also on display was Cerium s organic lens polishes, Digi-Pol Plus and New Super-Lite. The 4 instances above are certainly not conclusive when buyers discuss about the technological strengths of SIOF 2013.
